Attorney Profile - D. Kevin McCorkindale
Kevin McCorkindale works with individuals and businesses to
help them reduce their taxes, protect their assets from
creditors and others, and plan for the distribution of their
assets during their life and at their death to their
families and loved ones. He does this planning through the
use of wills, trusts, partnerships, and other business
entities. He is uniquely qualified to do this work because,
in contrast to many attorneys, he has an advanced law degree
in taxation and thus understands all aspects of taxation,
not just estate and gift taxes. Additionally, during his
long legal career, he has worked and continues to work in
the area of collection of debts, business litigation,
bankruptcy, and business organizations, thereby giving him a
broader and more practical perspective than most attorneys
who provide similar services.
Kevin provides a broad range of legal services in the
following areas:
Estate planning, including wills and trusts;
Probate
Business organizations, including corporations, limited
liability companies, and partnerships
Real estate
Collections
Business litigation.
Kevin received his law degree in 1982 from Washington & Lee
University, a National Top-25 law school. Thereafter, in
1983, he received a Masters of Laws in Taxation from the SMU
Law School.
Kevin began his legal career in 1983 with the tax planning
section of the tax department of the Superior Oil Company in
Houston. In 1985, after Superior Oil was acquired by what is
now ExxonMobil, Kevin joined a law firm in Dallas and has
continued to practice law continuously in Dallas and Plano
since then. Since 1994, he has been with the law firm of
Kasselman & McCorkindale, with offices in Dallas and Plano.
Kevin’s office is in Plano.
He has an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell as testimony to
his outstanding years of service as an attorney in Dallas
and Plano.
He has been married to his wife Debbie for 28 years.
Together, they have two children, Hilary and Drew.
He is very active in the Plano community. He is a member of
Christ Church in Plano, served on the vestry of the Church
from 1999-2002, and has taught Sunday School since 1997. He
is a founding board member of St. Timothy Academy, a new
school in Plano that provides a Christian education for
students with learning differences. He is also very involved
in Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas and has been a
mentor for at-risk students since 1999. |
